Steel wire sculptures created for my Making with Form and Materials class. This sculpture reflects the condition many artists and creatives face today, where artificial tools meant to enhance our work can end up feeling restrictive. Most of the finger coverings carry a harsh gunmetal grey, some ending in barbed wire like coils, evoking that restriction. The index finger stands apart in polished silver, a more elegant visual language among the rigid, functional forms elsewhere, representing the rare tools that manage to be both artificial and elegant. But the fingertips stay bare on every finger, a reminder that human touch still shapes the final work.
